Meet the expert on centre stage at WONCA 2023

28 August 2023

The WONCA World Conference 2023 is a significant event in the world of general practice and family medicine. Scheduled to take place from the 26th to the 29th of October, the conference will be hosted at the International Convention Centre (ICC) in Sydney, Australia. This event promises to be a dynamic platform for professionals to share research, insights, and best practices in the field. The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) is the proud host of this conference, emphasising its commitment to fostering high standards of care in general practice and family medicine. With a series of meetings starting from the 18th of October, attendees can anticipate a comprehensive program that includes family doctors, GPs, and primary healthcare specialists from all over the globe.

Breast cancer need not be a death sentence if women are in tune with their bodies. It’s crucial to understand that early diagnosis is key to survival. Women should never hesitate to seek advice from their GP when concerned about any symptoms. Dr. Nicole Yap FRACS MBBS (MELB) A.MUS, a SPECIALIST BREAST AND SKIN SURGEON, is an expert in this field. She’s the founder of the Australian Breast Care Centre. One of the significant aspects of Dr. Yap’s service is the urgency she provides to potential breast cancer patients. She guarantees that all potential patients will be seen within a 24-hour working day timeframe. If you or someone you know is concerned about symptoms, ensure that your GP is aware of the urgency. For immediate appointments or concerns, contact the rooms at 03 9041 8445. If the phone is unattended, kindly leave a voice message. Referrals should be emailed directly to reception@drnicoleyap.com.au.

Engage with a vast network of general practitioners and other healthcare professionals. Foster potential collaboration and partnership opportunities. The RACGP is Australia’s largest professional general practice organisation, representing more than 46,000 members who are working in or towards a career in general practice across urban, regional, and rural areas of Australia and overseas. Through conferences, events, and peer networking, we will be connecting with members at every stage of their general practice career. In 2023, GP23 and WONCA 2023 will be combined into a single conference. This will become known as ‘WONCA’ to our conference delegates. It is anticipated approximately 2500+ general practitioners (GP) and family doctor delegates to attend, consisting of Australian and international delegates. WONCA 2023 will be celebrating its 50th anniversary, and we look forward to attending and presenting to everyone at this significant milestone in GP education. With a larger audience, and a larger contingency of sponsors and exhibition space, the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) is excited to be hosting this very special event. WONCA is an acronym comprising of the first five initials of the World Organisation of National Colleges, Academies, and Academic Associations of General Practitioners/Family Physicians. WONCA’s short name is the World Organisation of Family Doctors. WONCA’s mission is to improve the quality of life of the peoples of the world through defining and promoting its values, including respect for universal human rights and including gender equity, and by fostering high standards of care in general practice/family medicine.
